From my IP statement I had chosen to look into Dark Twisted Fairy Tales combined with the theme of super heroes. So I've started to come up with some concepts to consider colours and what type of Game I would aim to propose

A very quick Draft of an idea

For my Game Idea I was considering the idea of a Super hero built from the tale "Six soldiers of fortune", this hero will then travel through the Grimm tales fairy tale book defeating fairy tale villains and completing the tale to finish the book.

The Fairy tale book world has been infested with the black plague which is turning all the village people into evil black skeleton creatures so now its the hero's job to cure the world from ridding it of its plague.

For the style I was looking at presenting the game is a pop up book style with dark themes.

From just typing in Super Heroes I am shown lots of super heroes, very colourful and all wearing bright costumes. I wonder if I could combine the dark themes of the Grimm Tales with the bright comic book way.

According to Movieinsider it is said that Super hero films will continue to release in 2014 which is just some further evidence which suggests that super heroes will continue to be popular in years to come.

An example of information I found on the new "pinnochio" film release later on in the future I have spoken about in the previous posts which also opens up a popularity opportunity for Fairy Tales with Dark themes to arise if it doesn't continue to be popular like it is now.

Game idea

The game is based on fairytale characters, and stories. event happens, causes the stories and the worlds constructed around said stories to become jumbled up - characters appear in the wrong stories, the plots are merged with others.

main character is an amnesiac based on the jumbling-up, doesn't remember who he is, but has a power that he can use. Monsters, and creatures, warped from the jumbling up (black plague idea?) cause chaos - those are cannon fodder enemies. each world / story is different with enemies
eg-
little red riding hood has wolf monsters, animals twisted by the plague?
the witch's house from hansel and gretel has appeared in little red riding hood's story, the wolf is attacking the witch.
Main character gets to choose what to do, help the wolf, the witch, or nothing and move on? Choice affects stage's paths, items, monsters, and boss fight, along with story elements.
example - help the wolf bake the witch in her own oven, the wolf might help you out later along the stage, or fight you itself. the wolf might even become an allied npc that acts as a teammate throughout the rest of the stage? wolf could help break through fallen trees or at least clear the way through certain areas, providing alternate routes / shortcuts, changing the level layout.

if you help the witch she could try to put you in her oven herself, or could assist you with information, or items etc. can't see her being as active in a role as the wolf could be, but that could be offset by her providing valuable advice and items that you wouldn't get with the wolf, that would last a little longer than the wolf could. Enemies might be slightly easier as you'd carry on the stage solo, certain areas inaccessible because the wolf would help you through there, changing the route.

if you do nothing, the rest of the stage's difficulty greatly increases, more trash mobs to fight, limited resources, harder path through the level. Later on, other characters could reference this in conversations, and slightly alter how they foresee you.

other jumbled up stories could be snow white and the frog prince? cinderella and the golden bird? rapunzel and jack & the beanstalk?

after each story is fixed, a new power is gained, that is used on enemy weaknesses, platforming and puzzle solving. EG- after gaining accuracy power, levers / switches from far distances must be pressed. Does this mean weapons are used? crossbow / longbow? ice power used to cool down areas of magma or flames caused by the slavic tale of the firebird (phoenix) which could be an unwitting boss in one stage?

rapunzel's tower merges with jack's beanstalk, the giant captured, or merged with the tower himself? rumplestiltzken can be a boss?
the woodcutter in red riding hood could be an npc companion, but ONLY if you didn't save the wolf from earlier perhaps? hansel and gretel are captured by the snow queen (use of a fire-based power, grants access to the ice power?)
choose to save the children, or ignore them and acquire the power early?

as MC collects powers and de-jumbles worlds, starts to have fragmented memories of his past, maybe he was the one who caused this in the first place? darth revan-style plot twist, or maybe the king from the story with the soldiers of fortune is the mastermind, the manipulator? manipulates the villains in each fairy tale without them knowing? that's why some are friendly to the MC?
